Celebrate Our Heroes

A Scrapbooking Fundraiser to benefit VFW Post 7175 Millington, TN

October 23-26,2025

Our U.S. military veterans have been, are, and will be instrumental in keeping our country safe. Their services and sacrifices are really beyond the scope that most can even understand. Let’s celebrate them all!  To do so, we are hosting a 4-Day scrapbooking retreat, “CELEBRATE OUR HEROES,” to raise funds for the Millington VFW Post #7175.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICING?  

  • ½ of a 5’ round table (2 people/table) 

  • WiFi and electricity provided

  • Crafting vendors

  • Online Auction

  • Scrap Yard

  • Variety of Classes, Make ‘n Takes, and other Challenges offered by vendors and others (some are free and some require a small fee)

  • 1 dinner and one lunch (other meals are on-your-own). Snacks and waters provided.

OPTIONAL EXPENSES/NEED FOR CASH DURING THE EVENT

  • Vendor shopping

  • Scrap Yard Change (selling and buying)

  • Silent Auction (bidding online...can pay onsite or online apps)

  • Classes – some will have payment options before/at event

  • Sodas available for purchase

  • Availability of the on-site VFW Grill for meals (depending on their food availability)

  • Optional (self-pay) famous VFW Friday Steak Night

 

DRESS ATTIRE

The dress is casual! Bring options for both cool and warm. Layers are optimal due to lack of control over venue temperatures. Although not required, we encourage attendees to proudly wear Red, White, and Blue or any military related clothing on Saturday. There will be no contest, but it sure will make a great group photo!

We have a bank of rooms set aside for event participants at:

LEARNING

Our vendors will be offering amazing classes! Most of these classes do require a small fee to help cover supplies. The vendors will contact participants as classes are ready for registration. All class registrations/payments will be handled by the instructor.

 

We will also have classes provided by our volunteers that will be free to the participants. Registration for the free classes will open by the end of September 2025. We encourage you to sign up ahead of time for any classes you are interested in as seating will be limited and is based on a first come first serve basis. If any seats are still available the day of the event, then signups will be offered at the event. Please do not rely on this option if you really desire to take a certain class. Classes can fill fast. Donations (which go to the VFW) are always accepted at these classes.

VENDORS

Several vendors will be onsite throughout the event for your convenience providing supplies for your projects. Make sure you check with the vendors at the beginning of the crop about payment methods, so you can be prepared.  Our vendors also provide us with classes and free make 'n takes. Don’t miss out on the cool projects at each of their booths.

DOORPRIZES

We will have several doorprize drawings throughout the weekend. All attendee names will automatically be entered.

VIRTUAL AUCTION 

We will have an online VIRTUAL AUCTION during the event that will be held on Facebook for a few days prior to and concluding Saturday, October 25 afternoon. All of the auction items (which will also be displayed at the event) are donated by vendors, sponsors, and participants. If you would like to make a contribution of any brand new or very gently used item or group of items valued at a retail price of $25 or more, we would greatly appreciate your donation! Items need to be turned in by October 20 so we can post them to the Virtual Auction Facebook page (Note: If you can't get your items to us prior to the deadline, at least  email us several photos, a full description, and value for entering on Facebook). Winners of the auction items can claim their items Saturday evening or Sunday at the event, make arrangements with an event volunteer for pick up, or pay additional fees for the items to be shipped to their house directly.

 

SCRAP YARD

Have scrapbooking, sewing, or other crafting items you'd like to sell at reduced prices? We will be hosting a Scrap Yard section during the event. Instructions will come later, but basically you'll price and label each item with your full initials/name.  People will find you and you will collect your own money and provide your own change. Donations from your sales are always welcomed. They go to the VFW.

CHALLENGES

We will be having a few challenges (optional) throughout the event. These will include: Table Décor, Spirit Day, and Thank You Card. Others may show up as time draws nearer.  

  • Hero Tables: Participants will have Thursday, Friday, and Saturday morning to decorate their table space for "Celebrate Our Heroes" table décor contest. Saturday afternoon we will judge the tables. Table décor needs to incorporate: "Celebrate Our Heroes" theme, veterans, VFW, and/or military theme(s). Keep in mind that our cropping tables are 6’ circles. You can decorate just your half or share the decorating with your table partner.

  • Spirit Day will be Saturday, October 25. Proudly wear your Red, White, and Blue or any military related clothing. There will be no contest, but it sure will make a great group photo!

  • Thank You Cards can be made throughout the event (not beforehand), and judging will be held Saturday. The only requirements for the submitted cards is that they must fit inside a 5x7 envelope and must follow any of the 3 sketches provided at the event. Participants can submit up to 3 different cards (2 veteran related and 1 for our event sponsors). After judging, the veteran Thank You cards will be donated to the VFW to use as they need for their veterans and the sponsor cards will be given to our local Millington sponsors.
